Year 7 Electives Programme Gets Underway

Thursday 23rd September  saw the launch of the Year 7 Electives Programme. It was wonderful to see students doing face-to-face electives after 18 months of a virtual programme. All Year 7 students took part – they were very excited as they set off for their first elective after a brief assembly at the end of period 4, and, as I walked around the school and visited the various electives, there was a real buzz of excitement and enjoyment. As you will see from the photographs, the students engaged fully in all the activities and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The activities offered in the Electives Programme are in addition to our existing range of extra-curricular provision which continue to run throughout the week. We value the personal and social enrichment electives can provide and we are delighted to be able to offer such a wide range of activities. The full list of activities for Year 7 is as follows:

Electives delivered by external providers:
  • Dance with Amy Mayers from Sylk Dance Academy, Macclesfield
  • Football coaching with Shaun Goater, former Manchester City player
  • Cartoon Art with Macclesfield cartoonist, Marc Jackson
  • Drama with Helen Sherwood, Speech and Drama Teacher
  • Snooker with Danny Connolly, England international player and former national coach

  • Classics Society with Mr Yates
  • Debating with Miss Prince and Mrs Burke
  • First Aid with Mr Bennett and Miss Hadley

  • Football with Mr Harvey, Mr Henshall and Mr Clowes
  • Netball with Miss Lock
  • Basketball with Mr Fitzsimmons
  • Digital Photography with Mr Ackerley
  • Science Club with Mrs Wallis and Mr Schofield
  • Tythy Goes Green with Mrs Masset and Mrs Stockdale
