A Level Physical Education

This course provides breadth and balance, giving students the chance to study a wide array of theoretical areas that underpin Physical Education and sport. In choosing this course, students will develop knowledge which will equip them for undergraduate study in areas of Physiology, Biomechanics, Psychology and Sociology.

Students will also be able to gain credit for their practical sports ability through their performance in a wide range of individual or team sports.

Progression

The diverse nature of Physical Education makes it an excellent choice for students considering a wide range of higher education courses. In previous years students have gone on to study Medicine, Law and Physiotherapy.  

Complementary Courses

Courses such as Psychology, Sociology and Biology particularly complement A Level PE.

 

Assessment

70% Written examination.
20% Practical performance in one sport or activity.
10% Written analysis of performance.

Entry Requirements

Minimum grade B in GCSE PE, if taken.

5 A*-C grades at GCSE (including English and Mathematics at grades 9-5).

Although prior study of examination Physical Education is not required, interest in a range of sporting areas is essential.
