Tytherington Students Support Rob Hasler’s MND Mile Challenge
A group of Tytherington students were proud to take part in Rob’s MND Mile Challenge, joining schools from across Macclesfield in a special event to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
At Tytherington, the students who took part were all former Dean Valley Primary School pupils who had been taught by Mr Hasler, making the occasion particularly meaningful. They joined Rob Hasler, a former primary school teacher who was diagnosed with MND in 2024, as he completed a mile around the school grounds as part of his incredible half marathon journey between Macclesfield’s five secondary schools.
The challenge also marked the launch of Give Us A Push, an initiative that enables disabled and terminally ill people to experience the joy of running through the use of specialist running chairs.
We are incredibly proud of the students who represented the school so thoughtfully. Rob’s determination, resilience and positivity provided a powerful reminder of the importance of community, inclusion and supporting one another.
Following the challenge, we would like to encourage students, staff and their families to join Rob Hasler, his family and the Give Us A Push team at Macclesfield Parkrun on Saturday 11th July at 9:00am, celebrating an inclusive event where everyone is welcome to run, jog, walk or volunteer.
