The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) plays a key operational role in ensuring that safeguarding and child protection arrangements are effective, responsive and compliant with statutory guidance.

Working closely with the Deputy Headteacher (Strategic DSL), the Headteacher and other senior leaders, the postholder will provide expert advice and support to staff, manage safeguarding concerns and referrals, liaise with external agencies, and ensure that children and young people are protected, supported and able to achieve positive outcomes.

The role requires high levels of professional judgement, emotional resilience and a strong commitment to safeguarding as everyone’s responsibility.

We are seeking an exceptional Deputy Headteacher (Behaviour and Standards) to join our Senior Leadership Team at a pivotal time in the school’s development. This is a key strategic role for an experienced, values‑driven leader who understands that high standards of behaviour, attendance and pastoral care are fundamental to academic success and personal growth, and who combines strategic thinking with a visible presence. The successful candidate will be able to balance warmth with firmness and will be committed to creating an environment where excellent behaviour, strong attendance and high standards are the norm for all.

The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight of behaviour systems and standards across the whole school community, ensuring clarity, consistency and fairness for staff, students and families. You will play a central role in further shaping and sustaining a calm, respectful culture, underpinned by high expectations and values-led practice.

As Deputy Headteacher, you will work in close partnership with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteachers and wider Senior Leadership Team to drive continuous improvement, support and challenge colleagues, and model the professional conduct and relational leadership we expect across the school. This role will suit an accomplished senior leader with a strong moral purpose, proven impact beyond their own remit, and the ability to hold high expectations while working compassionately with students, staff and families.
