Emmanuel Botwe – Headteacher

Manny Botwe was born, raised and educated in South London. He attended a comprehensive school and went to Corpus Christi College Oxford, where he gained a First Class degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Prior to moving north with his wife and two daughters in 2015, he was Deputy Headteacher for Raising Standards at an Outstanding School in South Oxfordshire. His outside interests revolve around his beloved Arsenal Football Club, reading and listening to new music. He was recently elected as the President of the Association of School and Colleges Leaders (ASCL).
Andy Pilbury – Senior Deputy Headteacher (Raising Standards)

Andy Pilbury grew up in a combination of South East Cheshire and Kent before studying a Sports Science and Geography degree and completing his PGCE. Spending the first nine years of his teaching career in Kent, he benefitted from roles as an Advanced Skills Teacher for the Kent Advisory Service and Assistant Headteacher.
Moving back home to Cheshire he now lives in Alsager with his wife and two daughters, feeling blessed for the support that they give to allow him to devote time and energy to Tytherington School. Andy has overall responsibility for standards in Key Stage 4.
Darren Pepper – Deputy Headteacher (Behaviour and Attitudes)

Darren was born, raised and educated in Northern Ireland. He attended Portadown College before completing an undergraduate degree in Sports Science at the University of Ulster in 2010. Prior to completing his PGCE in Physical Education at Liverpool John Moores University in 2013 he was employed as a professional coach by Ulster Rugby. Darren joined Tytherington School in September 2014 and has held numerous pastoral positions during his time at the school. Darren currently lives in Middlewich with his partner Claire. He is an extremely motivated and ambitious individual who is passionate about providing exceptional pastoral care for our students.
Helen Pugh – Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum, Teaching and Learning)

Helen was born and raised in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. She thoroughly enjoyed her education at the local comprehensive school, graduated from the University of Leeds with a degree in History in 1998 and completed her PGCE at Leeds University in 2000. She was lucky enough to work in a range of pastoral and curriculum leadership roles during the first 10 years of her career in an Outstanding all girls comprehensive school in Birmingham. Having moved North to be closer to family, she now lives in Macclesfield with her husband and two children. Helen shares a passion for UK and US politics with her husband, who also teaches at Tytherington, and has a core belief in comprehensive education.
Mary Gannon – Assistant Headteacher (CPD and Curriculum Plus+)

Mary Gannon grew up in Birmingham and went to a Catholic Girls’ Comprehensive School. Mary was the first in her family to attend university. She attended Manchester University to study French and German.
Before arriving at Tytherington, Mary worked in Birmingham. Mary is the longest serving member of the Senior Leadership Team having been an Assistant or Deputy Headteacher since 2002. She is passionate about providing the best education opportunities for students so that they can flourish and leave school with the potential to be happy and successful in life. Mary enjoys travelling and reading. She is a keen football fan supporting her beloved Man Utd and lives in Manchester with her partner and son, Jacob.
Liz Healey – Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion and Transition)

Liz Healey graduated from Salford University with a degree in English and German in 2001. She worked in industry before completing a PGCE with Manchester Metropolitan University. Liz worked as a teacher of languages at St Michaels C of E High School, Chorley and joined Tytherington as Assistant Head of Elm House in 2006.
She lives with her husband, son and daughter in Marple. Liz also loves travelling. Liz is passionate about providing all students with opportunities to learn and enjoy their time at school.
Caroline Brennan – Assistant Headteacher (Careers and Community)

Caroline Brennan was raised and educated in South Manchester, firstly attending a Catholic Secondary school in Didsbury and later completing a B.Ed (Honours) degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. She is currently completing a Master in Education at Liverpool Edge Hill University. Caroline was the first in her family to attend University and after graduating taught at two Catholic secondary schools in Widnes before joining the Health & Social Care and Design Technology departments at Tytherington in 1995. She is a passionate advocate of comprehensive education.
Caroline lives with her husband in Poynton, loves to travel and bake and is currently learning pottery.
Rebecca Roe – Assistant Headteacher (Head of Sixth Form)

Rebecca Roe was born in London but grew up in the North of England. After graduating from Leicester University in 2001 with a degree in French, she spent two years living in Japan before completing her teacher training.
Since starting at Tytherington in 2004, Rebecca has fulfilled a variety of roles including ITT coordinator, Lead Practitioner and Head of the Modern Foreign Languages Department. She is a passionate advocate of comprehensive education and lifelong learning.
Rebecca lives in South Manchester and likes yoga, reading and traveling.
Mr A Henshall – Head of Year 7 & 8

Andrew grew up in Macclesfield and studied at Tytherington School, leaving in 2013. Andrew completed an undergraduate degree in PE and Youth Sports Coaching at Staffordshire University in 2016. He then completed his PGDE in Physical Education at Liverpool John Moores University in 2017. Andrew Joined Tytherington School in 2018. He is highly motivated and passionate about delivering excellent pastoral care, as well as providing a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities in PE.
Andrew is an exceptional badminton player who currently plays at a county standard and has competed in national competitions whilst at University. He currently lives in Sutton with his partner Jo.
Mr J Cross – Head of Year 9

James grew up in Macclesfield and studied at All Hallows Catholic College, leaving in 2013. James completed an undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Science at Leeds Beckett University leaving in 2017. He then completed his PGCE in Mathematics in 2018. James joined Tytherington School in 2019. He is highly motivated and passionate about delivering excellent pastoral care, as well as teaching Mathematics at all levels.
James plays rugby union for Macclesfield 1XV and has recently represented Cheshire in this discipline. He also runs the thriving rugby club at school. James also plays cricket for Macclesfield 1XI and captained the club between 2020-2022.
Mrs J Rockett – Head of Year 10

Jessica was born in Cheshire and for most of her life has resided within the county. She initially trained as an actor at Leeds University and after graduating she followed a career within the theatre. She embarked on her teaching qualification and over the years she has successfully combined the two. Jessica joined Tytherington School in 2013 and it is during her time here that her passion for the Pastoral Care element of the profession has been fostered. Jessica has always been committed to her role as Form Tutor and feels the time is right to develop this further as Head of Year. Jessica is passionate about providing the highest standard of pastoral care and well-being for all students and is committed to encouraging and enabling all young people to achieve their potential and be the best versions of themselves they can be.
Miss C Linaker – Senior Head of Year – Head of Year 11

Cath grew up and still lives in the Rugby League town of Widnes. She qualified with a BA (hons) in Physical Education and Sports Development with Qualified Teacher Status from Liverpool John Moores University. After working in schools in Northwich she joined Tytherington from Wilmslow High School in 2004 as second in PE.
She was an exceptional hockey player, working her way up with her team Poynton Brooklands to the National League Premier division the top division in he country. She was in the top 3 goal scorers in the country, she still features in the top 10 goal scorers in the country. She still plays hockey now and spends most of her spare time playing football with her son Ewan, hoping he will play for Everton and England one day! She is passionate about providing the best possible pastoral care for all students.
Mr D Fitzsimmons – Head of KS5 Attendance & Behaviour
David graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in Sport and Business. He then completed his PGCE qualification at Liverpool John Moores in 2003. David is currently completing a Masters in Education at Liverpool Edge Hill University.
David was joined Tytherington in 2005 having previously worked at Congleton High School. He has overall responsibility for Ethos, student leadership and house system alongside being Head of P.E. David is an exceptional cricketer and was even given the opportunity to take a sabbatical in 2011-12 to play and coach cricket in Melbourne, Australia. He is passionate about providing a wide range of educational and extra-curricular activities for all students.
Mrs R Fellows – Head of KS5 Post-18 Progression

Ms Fellows was born in Wigan and is a proud Lancashire lass, she crossed the border into West Yorkshire to study Drama and Acting at Bretton Hall College. After graduation she worked with a Theatre-in-Education company writing and performing in schools all over the country. It was this experience that fuelled her decision to become a Drama teacher and move back over the border to study at Manchester Metropolitan University. She joined Tytherington School in 2008 as Head of Performing Arts and a member of the 6th form team, a role she relishes and now combines her time as Head of KS5 Post-18 Progression and Head of Drama. The relationship between Sixth Form staff and students is unique and she is proud to help and support Sixth Form students as they make decisions about their future whether that is university, apprenticeships, or employment.
Not surprisingly she loves going to the theatre, travelling, fell walking and cooking and would love to win MasterChef. She lives in Manchester with her husband and cat, George.
