Dear Families,

You will be aware from the letter that I sent to you earlier this term that the National Education Union (NEU) have declared a series of teacher strikes. The next strike is due to take place on Tuesday 28th February 2023. Just to be clear, the strike is happening not because of any issues in school but as a consequence of an ongoing national dispute between the NEU and the government.

Like many other schools across the country, we have several teachers who will be involved in the planned industrial action which means that we will not be able to open safely to all students on Tuesday 28th February.

School will be closed to all students on Tuesday 28th February apart from Year 7. There are two major trips taking place on the day and they will go ahead as planned. Year 12 will still be able to attend the UCAS Convention. Year 11 Geographers will still take part in their Fieldwork Trip to the River Bollin. The students involved in this trip will receive separate correspondence relating to these events.

Work will be set for students not in school via Firefly.

Please note that the NEU have scheduled two further strike days on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 15th March 2023
  • Thursday 16th March 2023

I’m sorry that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child and that they will experience disruption to their education. I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further.
