Food Technology Technician

Hours and working pattern:
  • 32.5 hours over 5 days a week, Term Time Only plus INSET days
  • 8.30am – 3.30pm (including a 30 minute unpaid break)
Salary:
  • Grade 5 (£17,739.39 – £19,602.00) (44.792 paid weeks)
  • Full Time equivalent – 5:17: £23,510 – 5:21: £25,979
Pension:
  • Local Government Contributory Scheme (Cheshire Pensions)
Reporting to:
  • The Second in Department: Design and Technology.
This is an exciting part-time position for a reliable, organised, flexible and enthusiastic person to work in Tytherington School’s Food Technology department. The successful candidate will work with teachers to support learning via technical support and assist with teaching to enable the smooth running of lessons.
The role will include (but is not limited to):
  • Assist setting up and starting lessons – getting books out, organising tables, printing materials, prepping materials (e.g. greaseproof paper) and equipment for theory and practical lessons.
  • Ordering, organising and preparing food ingredients in advance of lessons for pupil premium students;
  • Being able to recognise when and where pupils may require more support in practical lessons and help on a 1-1 basis during lessons.
  • Cleaning/tidying of cupboards, work surfaces, cookers, fridges, hobs, ovens and storage areas on a daily basis
  • Conducting maintenance of GCSE equipment where practical to do so e.g. wiping electric whisks, cleaning pasta machines, blenders and food processors.
  • Administrative tasks e.g. filing, photocopying, laminating and use of Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email.
  • Creating wall displays directed by teaching staff.
  • Assisting with the collating of food related competition entries by creating posters, certificates, and PowerPoint presentations
  • To have particular regard to health and safety matters in accordance with school policy and statutory requirements.
Holding a Food Hygiene Certificate is not an essential requirement as training will be provided.

Cleaner

Safeguarding

Salary: £8,280 per annum (FTE – £20,425 per annum – £10.59 per hour)
Holidays: 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 days) plus bank holidays
Hours of Work: 15 hours per week: 15:30 – 18:30 Monday – Friday.
Pension: Local Government contributory scheme.

This shift pattern will be subject to change in line with the needs of the school. The successful applicant must therefore be able to work flexible hours.

The role largely involves duties to be undertaken after School teaching times (ready to commence work from 3:30pm on average) with a degree of flexibility on working times during school holidays (please note the school generally closes the week before Christmas Eve and does not re-open until the first INSET Day in January – and as such the job holder will be required to use some annual leave entitlement to cover their normal working days during this period).

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual to join our Site Maintenance team. We are looking for a candidate who can provide high quality front-line cleaning support to facilitate the running of the school. General duties include cleaning offices, classrooms, communal areas and toilets.
