As part of Parliament Week, Tytherington Students were treated to their very own Question Time style event involving some of Cheshire East’s most colourful councillors. The panel consisted of Sam Corcoran (Leader of the Labour Group for Cheshire East), Howard Murray (Poynton East and Pott Shrigley, Conservative) and Craig Browne (Alderley Edge, Independent). The Question Time event was chaired by Headteacher, Manny Botwe.

The audience consisted of Tytherington School students as well as members of local feeder primary Student Parliaments including Bollington Cross, Marlborough and Puss Bank Schools.

The questions were generated by students and included topics such as Cheshire East Council, Jeremy Corbyn, Theresa May and the tax practices of the rich and famous. The most contentious debate was around Brexit.

Headteacher, Manny Botwe said, “we would like to say a huge thank you to the councillors who took part. They were great sports. The standard of questioning in the debate from our students was tremendous. We look forward to doing this again soon.”
