On Wednesday 29th March, Tytherington School hosted its annual Spring Concert event showcasing the best musical talent the school has to offer. Hundreds of parents and students filled the Main Hall for an evening of entertainment and celebration.

Nearly 100 staff and students took part. There were several spectacular solo and ensemble pieces from across the age range. There was a wonderful array great of performances including performances from the Jazz band, Steel Drum Band, Acapella Group, the Drum Group and Concert Band. The audience also enjoyed fantastic solo performances from Sam Fielding-Hardwick (piano), Juliet Whitfield (clarinet), Leo Wood (guitar) and Lucy Cazalet (violin).

Musical opportunities for students at Tytherington School continue to go from strength to strength. Mr Liley, Head of Music, said: “The quality of the performances improves every year. Well done to the students for their dedication and hard work”.

Manny Botwe, Headteacher, added: “These events rely on teachers who inspire, motivate and enthuse pupils. They also rely on our older students setting expectations for their younger peers to follow. At this point I would like to thank the Year 13 students who played their final school concerts. Well done to Sam Fielding-Hardwick, Charlie Coldwell, Leo Wood, Juliet Whitfield and Francesca James-Lee who have given so much to the Music Department and have served as excellent examples to others. They have been tremendous role models for younger students and have played their part in inspiring the next generation of Tytherington musicians. We wish them all the best in their forthcoming examinations in the Summer.”
